of Mind 100 Series
The essentials of Science of Mind are covered in the first year classes, or SOM 100 Series. These 32 classes are designed to give students a solid background in the theory and practice of metaphysical principles. SLCA offers this in a format of two 16-week courses which include the following four units of study all based on Ernest Holmes’ book The Science of Mind.
The Spiritual Path
The Spiritual Path introduces students to the background, history, and beginnings of Science of Mind® as well as to a new concept of God. Classes explore how God, the Universal Creative Power, relates to the individual and how thought creates our personal reality.
The Principles of Successful Living
In The Principles of Successful Living, students explore the role of consciousness in co-creating their own lives. Students are encouraged to develop a positive, life-affirming consciousness that gives direction to a spiritual law of Cause and Effect. This unit enables students to gain a greater understanding of the individual’s place in this spiritual universe and our relation to the one creative source behind all life that we commonly call God.
The Nature of Effective Prayer
The Nature of Effective Prayer unit gives students knowledge, understanding and techniques to pray affirmatively. Using the steps of spiritual mind treatment, or affirmative prayer, students learn how to pray more effectively for themselves and to expect greater results.
Building a Healing Consciousness
In Building a Healing Consciousness, students deepen their understanding of effective spiritual mind treatment, and develop a greater understanding of the nature of the creative process in the individual.
