Our Creative Arts Director, Penelope Williams, has faithfully served SLCA for more than 22 years, ministering alongside four of the five ministers our church has known. Her love for music, people, and ministry has touched countless lives. Week after week, her gifts have created moments of worship, hope, and healing for our community.
Earlier this week, Penelope shared with our leadership her decision to retire from ministry. While receiving her resignation was bittersweet, we also celebrate the incredible gift she has been to SLCA. Through seasons of growth and transition, Penelope has served with unwavering dedication, extraordinary talent, and a generous spirit that has blessed us all.
As we honor her years of faithful service, we are grateful that her passion for music and teaching will continue in new ways. She will remain on the faculties of The Lovett School and Emory University, continue her regular performances at Ray's in Alpharetta, and perform with the Third-Stream Big Band. Retirement from ministry will allow her to devote even more time to mentoring and inspiring the next generation of musicians.
Next Sunday, July 12, during service we will take time to celebrate Penelope and express our heartfelt appreciation for her remarkable ministry. As we prepare to say our Giving Affirmation today, we invite you, as you are able, to consider making an additional gift to help make her sendoff a meaningful celebration of gratitude and love.
